Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS TO BECOMING A FRANCHISEE?

1. Fill out the Application for Additional Information (see Own a Franchise).  There is no obligation when you fill out the Application.  We will send you the FTC required Uniform Offering Circular which contains much more detailed information about Subway.

2. Attend a free Open House Seminar or Webinar.  This information seminar will answer all of your questions about Subway.  Contact Abbie Muto at muto_a@sdepa.com to sign up

3. Schedule a meeting at the Development Office.  At this required Approval Meeting, you will take a basic Math and English skills test as well as meet with our staff.  Contact Abbie Muto to set up this meeting at 610-366-8120 ext.29 or muto_a@sdepa.com

4. Complete a Business Plan, Financial Statement and Store Visit Report for final approval

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO OPEN A STORE ONCE I HAVE PURCHASE A FRANCHISE?

It has been our experience in Eastern PA that the average time frame between the time of purchase and the day the store opens is approximately 8-12 months; however, every circumstance is different.

FROM WHOM AND WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR SUPPLIES/FOOD?

Subway requires that all products meet our "Gold Standard". These products are currently supplied by Reinhart Foods in Shamokin, PA.

DO YOU HAVE A TEAM OF CONTRACTORS TO BUILD THE STORES?

Subway does not have a construction team or company that will build your store for you. However, we do have a list of contractors with whom we have built a relationship.  You can use your contractor as long as they are licensed and are able to follow the floor plans.

DO YOU HAVE APPROVED LOCATIONS AVAILABLE?

Ultimately, finding a location for a new Subway restaurant is the responsibility of the Franchisee. All locations must be approved by Subway.  However, occasionally we do find locations which we have approved that are in need of a Franchisee.

WHAT FINANCING IS AVAILABLE, IF ANY?

You may use whatever means of financing you wish to finance your Subway project.  We do have several companies that work with Subway Franchisees on a regular basis.  As a result, these lenders are very familiar with the Subway business model which generally expedites the process.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND "SUBWAY SCHOOL"?

Yes.  There is a mandatory two week training course that must be attended and passed by everyone who is listed on the franchise agreement.  The training is held at Franchise World Headquarters in Milford, CT.
